The step-by-step process
Step 1: Build the Base. Clean your glass container thoroughly. Add a 1–2 inch layer of pebbles, followed by a thin layer of activated charcoal.
Step 2: Add the Barrier & Soil. Lay down your moss barrier, then spoon in your potting soil. Create depth by sloping the soil higher at the back for a better visual landscape.
Step 3: Arrange and Plant. Use your fingers or tweezers to make small holes. Gently remove your plants from their pots, trim excess roots if necessary, place them in the soil, and pat down firmly.
Step 4: The Finishing Touches. Add aesthetic elements like accent rocks, driftwood, or decorative sand. Use a dry paintbrush to sweep away any stray soil stuck to the glass walls.
Step 5: First Watering. Mist the plants gently with a spray bottle. Avoid overwatering—the soil should be damp, not muddy. Seal the lid.
